When a neighborhood picks up several restaurant openings in the same year, the easy assumption is that they're all landing on the same stretch of sidewalk. One strip gets hot, word spreads, and within a season it's being called a restaurant row. That is not what happened in Brookhaven this year.
Four restaurants have opened or locked in opening dates here since February 2026, and each one chose a different part of the city to do it in. Apple Valley Road, Buford Highway, and Clairmont Road are three separate commercial corridors, each with its own traffic pattern, its own regulars, and its own reasons an operator would pick it. The fact that all three picked up new tenants in the same stretch of 2026 says something about how Brookhaven's food scene is actually growing: not by concentrating, but by filling in wherever there's already foot traffic and a reason to stay.
Apple Valley Road: SIREN beside Chop Shop
SIREN opened August 18, 2026, at 2700 Apple Valley Road NE, right next to Arnette's Chop Shop. Both restaurants belong to Word of Mouth Restaurants, the hospitality group run by restaurateur Michel Arnette. Chefs Stephen Herman and Matt Swickerath are running the kitchen, with a menu built around oysters, crudo, raw-bar selections, and wood-fired dishes, served Tuesday through Saturday from 5 to 10 p.m.
This is expansion by proximity.
Buford Highway: an independent operator building his own footprint
A few miles away, Buford Highway is getting a different kind of newcomer. Eggscape is set to open this fall at 2829 Buford Hwy NE, a breakfast and brunch concept from Nahom Mekonnen, who already owns Illusion Sports Lounge in Lawrenceville and is opening Illusion Sports Bar in Buckhead this November. Mekonnen has said he'd eventually like to grow Eggscape to seven locations.
That's worth sitting with. Mekonnen isn't a national chain scouting Atlanta suburbs from a spreadsheet. He's a local operator with existing restaurants in Lawrenceville and Buckhead, and Brookhaven is the next stop in a footprint he's building himself, one storefront at a time. Buford Highway has long been known for its dense mix of independently owned kitchens, and Eggscape fits that pattern rather than breaking it. The corridor is picking up someone who already has skin in the Atlanta restaurant business, not someone testing the market for the first time.
Clairmont Road: filling a space someone else walked away from
The third corridor is doing something different again. Unkie's Pizza and Bar took over 3400 Clairmont Road, Suite A, a space that formerly housed The Greek Pizzeria & Gyros. The new owners, Richard Gazaway and Michael Colombo, met two decades ago working together at Vintage Pizzeria, and Gazaway grew up in nearby Chamblee. Phase one of the opening was confirmed in early February 2026, with the second phase, a full bar and an expanded menu of sandwiches and appetizers, targeted for that same spring.

Gazaway said he and Colombo wanted to stay within their community, though that comment doesn't explain why they chose this particular address. Unkie's took over an existing restaurant space, and its owners bring local history to Clairmont Road. The new tenant is another sign of interest in the corridor's retail spaces, which are being filled by operators with local ties.
The corridor filling in without a headline
Buried in the same stretch of 2026 is Beyond Juicery + Eatery, which opened July 25 as the fast-casual chain's third Georgia location, run by local franchise partners Ricky Burch and Ross Hare. It's a smaller story than SIREN's debut or Unkie's phased buildout, but it matters for the same reason. A national smoothie and bowl concept choosing Brookhaven for its next Georgia footprint, on the heels of an independent seafood restaurant, a homegrown breakfast concept, and a locally owned pizza bar, means the growth here isn't coming from one category of operator. Independents, small local chains, and national franchises are all picking Brookhaven in the same year, for different reasons, on different streets.

The one Saturday habit none of this has touched
For all that movement on the restaurant side, Brookhaven's weekend routine hasn't shifted. The Brookhaven Farmers Market still sets up at 1375 Fernwood Circle NE every Saturday morning from spring through late fall, and Blackburn Park, the city's 51-acre anchor off Ashford Dunwoody Road, is still where people end up whether they came for the tennis courts, the playground, the community garden, or just a walk on the trails. Whichever corridor is closest to you, Apple Valley, Buford Highway, or Clairmont, the market and the park are still the one constant that pulls the whole neighborhood back to the same place once a week.
That's the real shape of Brookhaven's growth right now. The weekday and weekend dining options are spreading out in three directions at once, while the weekend gathering spot stays exactly where it's always been. New restaurants keep landing on different streets. The Saturday morning habit doesn't move.
